I may have mentioned this already but I grew up watching award shows. For the Oscars and GRAMMYs specifically, my Mom would get sparkling cider and we would take out the champagne glasses. We’d have hors d'oeuvres type food items too - it was a whole thing lol. We haven’t done it at that level in years but those memories are why I can’t dismiss them like many people love to say they are doing.

The buzz around Lil Yachty’s album pulled me alll the way in on checking it out because I initially dismissed it. I haven’t seen this many divided opinions on something since Yeezus honestly. The word “industrial” was being tossed around a lot for that one and I’ve seen “psychedelic” and “alternative” used for Yachty’s project. Both of these are accurate. I’ve never been a fan of Yachty’s vocals but the production on Let’s Start Here. is what makes it stand out most to me. I was able to tolerate and even enjoy Yachty’s vocals on some tracks truthfully and applaud him for trying something new and going all in with it.

As I said, this will be the last time I mention my birthday since it was this Wednesday! I went out to dinner the night before to a place called Tupelo Honey Cafe. The fact there was mac and cheese inside those waffles was mind-blowing because it’s like they went inside my mind and said “let’s combine his favorites” lol.
Birthday cake is fine but my personal preference is Duck Donuts. My favorite one is the maple bacon and the blueberry and the lemon with lemon with raspberry drizzle and the cinnamon with vanilla icing…
And of course I got awesome gifts!
This was the first year my birthday celebration lasted several days and it was a really nice feeling. Celebrating with friends one day, family another and mostly just relaxing solo on the day itself was a method I think I want to keep doing going forward. It was also heartwarming getting birthday greetings from those I’m connected with especially those who did specific things they knew I’d love.
